Set up IPTV on a Samsung or LG smart TV

Samsung and LG televisions do not let you install apps from outside their own stores, so a smart TV is set up differently from a phone or a streaming stick: you install a small player app from the TV's store, tell that app's website which playlist to load, and the TV picks it up on the next restart.

Your login details are on your subscription page in your account, under Dashboard → Subscriptions. Open the subscription you want to set up and use the copy buttons next to each field rather than retyping them — a single wrong character in a password or URL looks exactly like a service fault.

What you need

• Your M3U playlist URL
• The MAC address the player app shows on screen — this is the app's own identifier, not your subscription

Install the player

1. Open the app store on your TV (Samsung Apps on Samsung, LG Content Store on LG).
2. Search for the player app you intend to use and install it.
3. Launch the app. It shows a MAC address on the first screen — write it down exactly, including the colons.

Load your playlist

1. On a phone or computer, open the player app's own website. The app shows its address on the same screen as the MAC.
2. Enter the MAC address from your TV.
3. Paste your M3U playlist URL into the playlist field.
4. Save, then close the app on the TV completely and reopen it.

Channels load on the next start. If the list is empty, the playlist did not save against that MAC — check the MAC for a mistyped character before assuming a service problem.

Notes worth knowing before you start

Most smart TV player apps are paid: they are made by third parties, not by us and not by Samsung or LG, and they typically offer a short free trial and then a one-off fee. That charge is the app author's and has nothing to do with your subscription.

If your TV is more than a few years old, a cheap Android box or streaming stick will usually give a much better experience than the TV's own apps, and the setup is simpler.
