Set up IPTV with STB Emulator on Android

STB Emulator is an Android app that behaves like a MAG set-top box. It is the answer to a specific situation: your subscription is a portal one, but the hardware you own is an Android TV box rather than a MAG. Instead of buying a MAG, the app presents itself to the portal as one.

Your login details are on your subscription page in your account, under Dashboard → Subscriptions. Open the subscription you want to set up and use the copy buttons next to each field rather than retyping them — a single wrong character in a password or URL looks exactly like a service fault.

You need the **Portal URL** and the **MAC address** fields. If your subscription shows a **Username** and **Password** instead, it is an Xtream Codes subscription and this is the wrong guide — use the Android guide, which is simpler anyway.

Register the app's MAC address first

This is the step that catches people, because it has to happen before anything else will load.

1. Install STB Emulator from the Play Store and open it once.
2. On the main screen, note the **MAC address** the app shows. This is the app's own MAC, not your device's.
3. Add that MAC to your subscription, or send it to support if your subscription does not show a MAC field.

The MAC belongs to the app profile rather than to the hardware, so reinstalling the app or clearing its data produces a new one that has to be registered again. An unregistered MAC gives a portal error rather than an empty channel list — the same symptom as a wrong URL, which is why it is worth ruling out first.

Create the profile

1. Open **Settings** from the icon in the top right, then **Profiles**.
2. Select **Test portal**, or add a new profile.
3. Open **STB model** and choose the box your subscription was set up for — see the list below.
4. Open **Portal settings** and paste your **Portal URL**.
5. Open **Screen resolution** and pick the one matching your TV. If you are not sure, 1280 x 720 is the safe choice: it plays on everything and can be raised afterwards.
6. Close the app completely and reopen it. The channel list loads on the next start rather than immediately.

Which set-top box to emulate

The app can present itself as any of these, and the model matters because the portal decides what to send based on it:

Pick the model your subscription was provisioned for. If you do not know, ask support rather than guessing — a mismatched model usually loads the portal and then fails on playback, which reads like a channel problem rather than a settings one.

If it does not load

• **A portal error on startup** means the MAC is not registered, or the Portal URL has a typo. Check the MAC on the app's main screen against the one on your subscription page.
• **The portal loads but channels do not play** is usually the STB model. Try the model your subscription names.
• **It worked and then stopped after an update** — check the MAC again. An app reinstall generates a new one.
